Recommended Reading Order for The Legends of Thezmarr

July 14, 2024 | sarah

Blood & Steel quickly — and I mean quickly — became one of my favorite fantasy series. I loved the story, the world, the writing, and the characters. It was all so good! If you want to read my review of the four books in this series, click here!

There are four main books in the series, a standalone, and a prequel. Here’s the order I would recommend reading them!

1. An Alchemists’s Vow

This is a FREE novella that focuses on Thea and the events leading up to the first book. It’s not necessary to read in order to enjoy the main series, but honestly, Thea is amazing, and I can’t get enough of her!

2. Blood & Steel

Thea and Wilder dual POV

3. Vows & Ruins

Thea and Wilder dual POV

4. Slaying the Shadow Prince

This is a standalone prequel that follows Talemir and Drue, two characters who show up in the main series. I would definitely recommend reading this since it allows you to understand the plot and characters of the third book (Fate & Furies) better. Reading it fourth gives you the most emotional impact since you have the suspense of not knowing Talemir’s past. And his past will be an important part of the next book!

5. Fate & Furies

Thea and Wilder dual POV

6. Shadow and Storms

Thea and Wilder dual POV

I loved this series so much that I was actually sad to finish it. But fear not, because Helen Scheuerer announced that there will be another series set in this world called The Ashes of Thezmarr. The first book is titled Iron & Embers and will focus on other characters from the main series. Once you finish the main series, you will have a good idea of who this new series will be about. And let me just say, I am really excited about it!
