Must-Read Romance Books for the Summer
I am not a summer girl. The bugs, the humidity, the heat…I don’t like it. However, there is something about the warmer weather and time spent poolside that makes me crave a good romance book! Here are 4 romance books you need to read this summer!
Funny Story – Emily Henry
“And I know I’m not who you pictured yourself with, but I think I could be, eventually. If you’ll let me. So don’t go.”
Emily Henry is the kind of author I want to be friends with! Her humor comes across in her writing and she is ‘laugh out loud’ funny. I haven’t read a book from her that I didn’t enjoy, and Funny Story is no exception! You can expect fake dating, forced proximity, summer vibes, and drama! It’s so entertaining and an absolute must read. In fact, go ahead and add every Emily Henry book to your TBR…just start with this one!
The Seven Year Slip – Ashley Poston
“A cardboard pizza across a yellow table. A friend, lost in a memory, but alive in the taste of a half-burnt brownie. Love in a lemon pie.”
This is a sweet, lighthearted read, but it definitely packs an emotional punch! There is an aspect of magical realism to this story and I thought that was really fun. You won’t regret reading this book. Especially when the love interest is a freckled, southern boy who likes to cook! A man who knows his way around a kitchen is just well… chefs kiss (pun intended)!
Just for the Summer – Abby Jimenez
“The love stories sold us the wrong thing. The best kind of love doesn’t happen on moonlit walks and romantic vacations. It happens in between the folds of everyday life. It’s not grand gestures that show how you feel, it’s all the little secret things you do to make her life better that you never tell her about.”
Other than the fact that this book literally has summer in the title, it is the perfect summer romance. Set at a lake house, Justin and Emma fake date in an attempt to cancel out their previous bad luck with dating. The dual POV in this book weaves two completely different stories of two people in a complex and beautiful way. You’ll laugh, and then you’ll grab a box of Kleenex because it’s equally as emotional.
Practice Makes Perfect – Sarah Adams
“Will Griffin is absolutely not the kind of man I need. Too bad he’s very quickly becoming the man I want.”
I read this book in a single day. I loved it so much I literally could not put it down. Then once I finished it, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. An introverted flower shop owner and a bodyguard who ‘doesn’t fall in love’ fake date, and it is the kind of wholesome relationship that made me all tingly. It’s a tender and witty love story that will stay with you long after you finish reading.
