Our Top 5 "Thrillers" to Read This Fall

Temperatures are finally dropping and I decided it’s time to get into the October spirit by diving into some thrillers. I have to admit, I’ve never really been into the thriller genre. I’m more of a fantasy/romance girl, but I decided to branch out a bit and I’m really glad I did! Thrillers are so hit and miss. You get invested in a story only to be utterly disappointed by a quick twist ending that is revealed on the second to last page with very little resolution. Don’t feel like wasting your time? Yeah me neither. I did the vetting so you don’t have to! Go grab any of the books below, an Oreo cookies & cream cookie, and get ready to binge…on books and cookies.

1. The Other Side of Night

Adam Hamdy

A disgraced police officer, an eleven-year-old boy, an author, and a mysterious man. All connected in an extraordinary way.

I LOVED this book! It was one of those books that you want to immediately reread to catch all the subtle details you overlooked after the big reveal at the end. I wasn’t even close to guessing where this book was headed. If you only make it through one of our favorite thrillers this Fall, I recommend this one!

2. Dark Matter

Blake Crouch

A science fiction thriller, exploring the mind-bending concept of parallel universes as a man navigates through alternate realities to find his way back to his family.

I’ve never read a book quite like this one! It was captivating from start to finish and really had some thought provoking moments.

3. The Last Time I Lied

Riley Sager

A woman returns to a haunted summer camp to uncover long-buried secrets and confront her own dark past.

This was my first Riley Sager novel, and I thoroughly enjoyed his writing style. This book made me realize how much I take what is being presented to me at face value. I should really stop doing that!

4. The Silent Patient

Alex Michaelides

A psychological thriller where a mute painter’s dark past is unraveled by a determined psychotherapist with shocking consequences.

I don’t think I put this book down after I started reading it. No joke, this was a one day read for me. Absolutely devoured this.

5. The Night Before

Wendy Walker

A psychological thriller about a woman’s disappearance on the eve of a date, leading her sister to unravel a web of secrets and lies.

Plot jumped between past and present but was easy to keep up with. Might be an ending you can guess if you’re paying attention, but still a good story getting there.
